The spacious exclusively furnished ground level apartment will sleep up to 6 people(or up to twelve utilising the adjacent property) and is within meters of a fantastic communal swimming pool and children's splash pool. The open-plan living/dedicated dining area area is a great space for relaxing or for any evening meals in. Cartegena: The City of Cartagena was founded in pre Roman times. There is a wealth of history and architecture to see as well as the attractive port area where there is a mixture of old and new buildings and the famous Peral submarine built in 1888.Cartegena is a historical town founded in 227BC, by the Carthaginians. The city is surrounded by 5 hills which in theory made the city easy to defend. Many of the forts, castles and guns built for this purpose can still be seen today. The city contains many Roman ruins including the Roman amphitheatre, discovered in 1987, and is still undergoing excavation today. Art Nouveau buildings, including the majestic Ayuntamiento (town hall) and interesting museums are a reflection of the importance and prosperity of this harbour city steeped in 3,000 yrs of history. If you are exhausted by all the sightseeing and shopping there are many parks and shaded squares, particularly in the old part of the town, where you can take a break. March Menor: The March Menor (Little Sea) is a unique area within the region of Murcia; it is the largest Salt Water Lake in Europe. The March Menor is a salt water lagoon formed by the Mediterranean Sea being cut off by the La Manga land strip. The shallow waters are very safe for bathing and water sports and there is over seven kilometers of blue flag beaches. It is open to the sea at its northern end and being quite shallow, is excellent for children as its beaches shelve very gently. In summer, the waters are literally like a warm bath. The villages around the March Menor have been tourist destinations for the Spanish for many years. The beautiful beaches of resorts such as Lo Pagan, Santiago de la Ribera and Los Alcazares (a resort even in Roman times) are on the crystal clear March Menor The stunning beaches of the March Menor and the Mediterranean are just 25 minutes drive from Corvera. La Manga Strip: On the far side of the March Menor is the La Manga Strip which is unique in Europe, having sea on both sides; 1 with waves and 1 practically calm all year long; at some points it is only 2mins walk between both sides. Sunrises over the Mediterranean can be spectacular and this whole area is a Mecca for lovers of water sports of all kinds, sailing, windsurfing, kite surfing, jet skis, snorkelling, scuba diving or just swimming. There are many marinas in the area and several schools for these activities. The Islas Hormigas underwater reserve is a protected area that is World renown in diving circles. Cabo de Palos: A working fishing village located at the base of the La Manga strip, is well known throughout the region for its collection of very fine fish restaurants. Several of the diving schools at the village of Cabo de Palos take trips out to the Islas Hormigas. Calblanque Beach: Further south is the Calblanque Regional Park which is a protected area where mountains plunge into the Mediterranean. It is home to some of the best beaches in the area – totally unspoilt and truly breathtaking, not to be missed.Places to Visit: If you want a break from golf there are some lovely places to visit near to Corvera. Caravaca de la Cruz is 1 of the world's 5 holy cities. 'The cult of the true cross' goes back to the 13th century.Alhama de Murcia is also worth visiting with its Moorish castle, Roman spas and beautiful church. On the southern edge of the Sierra Espuna about seven km out of Totana is the sleepy medieval village of Aledo with it's Moorish tower and church on a rocky promontory. Between Aledo and Totana is the La Santa monastery which has been restored and turned into a hotel. The church here is stunning with almost every inch painted with scenes from the bible and the gardens are a fantastic place just to relax.The Sierra Espuna is ideal for those who enjoy walking and wildlife, it has both hiking and mountain-biking trails and pine forests which climb up the mountain sides. On the lower slopes of the Sierra are many vineyards which produce a good quality table grape. The coastal village of Lo Pagan, San Pedro del Pinatar, is home to the soothing mud baths renowned to relieve the aches and pains of arthritis and rheumatism. NOTE: Golf Course is closed, but there are numerous other golf courses in the very near vicinity.
