About Claremont Project The Claremont Project is a community arts and wellbeing centre for people over the age of 55 based in Angel, Islington. We are a pioneer of high-quality services for older adults, and we have built an excellent reputation over many years. We serve members from all walks of life and have 600+ attendances each week with over 40 classes and special events, a social prescription referral programme, and a low-cost psychotherapy service. We work in close partnership with other arts organisations such as Sadler’s Wells, The National Gallery, Tate and the Royal College of Music. About the role This internship offers people interested in working in community arts and related fields (performing arts, events management, health, and wellbeing etc) valuable experience and insight into the running of a dynamic community arts centre in the busy central borough of Islington. You will be tasked with front of house duties such as welcoming Claremont members to the centre, taking payments, helping set up for classes, assisting at social events and engaging isolated and lonely members. There is the opportunity to deliver a creative workshop or shadow a core member of staff for insight into programme managing, social support and data entry. Tasks include; • Engage with members about the centre, making them feel welcome and listened to, with a focus on particularly isolated older people. • Manage the reception desk, be the face of the centre, taking class payments, and being a point of contact for face-to-face, telephone and email enquiries. • Assist the front of house team with operational tasks (i.e., setting up regular classes, art exhibition openings, collecting data etc). • Support with the organisation of special events and trips (Christmas and Easter parties, variety shows, cultural events, excursions etc.) through research, planning and social media. • Work as a part of a team to promote the health and wellbeing of all our members. • Research, design and teach/facilitate at least one workshop or group (optional).
