Power Systems Engineer Location: Stockton on Tees Reporting to: Managing DirectorSalary: Negotiable DOE Job Overview : We are delighted to represent our client in offering an opportunity to join their team as a Power Systems Engineer based in Stockton on Tees. This role involves delivering cutting-edge technical consultancy in Power Systems Analysis, Electrical Engineering, and Design across various sectors including Renewables, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Manufacturing, Utilities, and Energy. The position is rooted in our Teesside office but may require occasional onshore and offshore plant surveys. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be instrumental in upholding the company's reputation for excellence by providing high-quality electrical design and engineering projects. Key Responsibilities This is a technical role in an established engineering design and consultancy business. The main activities include, but are not limited to: Undertake, oversee and deliver high-quality detailed electrical design and engineering projects including calculations, analysis, schematics, drawings, diagrams, models, specifications, data sheets and other documentation required for both LV and HV electrical equipment. Using ETAP and DIgSILENT, perform Load Flow, Short Circuit Analysis and Arc Flash Studies, Risk Assessments, Harmonic Analysis, Transformer Energisation and Protection Co-ordination, Transient Stability, Transient Motor Starting Analysis and Grid Compliance Studies. Always represent the company in a professional, positive, and diligent manner. Attend all meetings with clients, project team, contractors etc, interacting with clients to achieve project objectives. Work alongside the Engineering team in implementing continual improvement processes within the Engineering function, highlighting any issues within the team and general opportunities for improvement as appropriate. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, clients, suppliers etc. Regular review and management of assigned projects from inception to completion. Interacting with clients to achieve project objectives. Producing high-quality technical reports / notes; discussing and presenting findings to clients where necessary. Mentoring and assisting junior Engineers, sharing technical knowledge and experience where possible. Plan and supervise the work of EPS Engineering team to achieve project deliverables and objectives relating to quality, progress, compliance, and cost control. Scoping and interpreting client requirements to prepare and deliver an effective technical solution. Appreciation and understanding of relevant UK, European & International standards, legislation, regulations, and codes of practice. To have a thorough knowledge of and compliance with EPS procedures. Qualification / Experience Bachelors degree within the Electrical Engineering field Extensive experience in design and engineering. Front End Engineering Design (FEED) experience is also preferable. Engineer must be familiar with NEC, IEEE/ANSI, IEC and other International electrical standards and best practices. A proven track record of technical leadership on EPC type projects. Person Specification Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a strong team player. Demonstrate a highly motivated approach and a can-do attitude driven to deliver technical excellence. The technical competence and confidence to support clients in person, via teams and in email correspondence on behalf of EPS. Communicating and presenting in a professional manner. Prioritises tasks, working in an organised, methodical and orderly fashion. Ensures tasks are approached with a close attention to detail. Actively demonstrate initiative and ability to work independently under pressure to meet deadlines efficiently. Utilises well-developed technical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills, always taking time to establish the accuracy and relevance of information. Prepared to travel supporting EPS UK based customers. Receptive to client needs, with the ability to build an excellent rapport. Strong report writing skills, paying attention to detail to produce high-quality documentation. The drive, ambition and commercial acumen to develop EPS and fast-track their role within it. Project Management Skills: Utilises well developed technical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills by establishing the accuracy and relevance of information.
