Position: IT Director Department: Information Technology Location: Cardiff (3 days a week in the office is mandatory) Reports to: Chief Financial Officer Salary: Salary based on experience Position Summary The IT Director is responsible for delivering the companys global IT strategy, leading on IT systems (SaaS and bespoke), cloud tooling, security, data and infrastructure. The IT Director will maximise the adoption of technologies and deliver on any strategic business change programmes using both internal and external resources. The IT Director will manage the department operating across 4 countries. This will require infrequent travel to company sites. Key Responsibilities Strategic Planning Design and deploy a 5-year IT strategy to support the companys vision, ensuring that innovation, security, reliability, cost and utilisation are the cornerstones of any proposal. Develop and maintain an appropriate IT organisational structure that supports the needs of the business. Develop an understanding of IT and take the company on the journey. Leadership & Management Lead and build a high-performance IT team, fostering innovation and collaboration. Recruitment, evaluation, training, guidance, disciplinary procedures, and dismissals. Build a culture of empowerment. Budgeting and Finance Develop and manage the IT budget, employ robust and auditable processes and ensure rigour is applied to challenging prices internally and with external suppliers. Build business cases for increases in resource and technology investments. Security Oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures for IT and Cyber security. Maintain a cybersecurity framework and ensure GDPR compliance. Ensure the security of data, network access, and backup systems. Operations Manage the deployment, development, monitoring, maintenance, upgrading, and support of the companys global IT systems. Analyse the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs. Oversee the provision of end-user services. Formulate and implement robust business continuity and disaster recovery plans. Be knowledgeable of and stay abreast of technology trends and advancements to maintain the companys competitiveness. Vendor Management Evaluate, select, and manage external vendors and negotiate contracts for cost-effectiveness Change Management Able to effectively manage changes to the organisations IT infrastructure with experience in change management methodologies and tools. Compliance Ensure that all IT systems operate according to internal standards and regulatory and legal requirements. Communication Communicate IT plans, policies, and technology trends throughout the organisation. Experience Needed Proven experience as an IT director or similar IT leadership role where you have undertaken an IT strategy review and implemented change. Prior experience in the management of teams with an ability to show a track record of the development of individuals. Considerable knowledge of business processes, management, budgeting, and business operations. Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications. Expertise in implementing and managing IT governance and information security. Excellent knowledge of IT systems, cloud tooling, security, data and infrastructure. Bachelors degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Strong understanding of data analysis, budgeting, and business operations. Personal Competencies needed Superior analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Highly developed leadership and decision-making skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Proven self-starter with experience of being able to work independently, juggling and prioritising across workloads and consistently meeting deadlines.
