Java and DevOps Engineer – upto £600+ a day negotiable (inside IR35) 3 months+ contract position, to join the team in a large government programme. Immediate start, based remotely from anywhere in the UK with limited on-site flexible working. Rate: upto £600+ a day negotiable, based on skills/experience, inside IR35 The Role: A skilled Java and DevOps Support Engineer is required to join the team in supporting and enhancing a key Reference Data product in central Government. The ideal candidate will have Java development skills coupled with expertise in DevOps practices to ensure seamless deployment, monitoring and maintenance of the product. The ideal candidate will: Maintain & enhance a Java-based microservice Troubleshoot and debug issues reported by clients or identified through monitoring systems Design and implement automation scripts for secrets and key test cases Maintain infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform Monitor system performance and reliability, and implement optimizations as needed Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry best practices related to Java development and DevOps Skills and Experience Required: Strong experience with Monitoring using Prometheus, Grafana & Cloudwatch Maintaining GitLab pipelines and use of flux Experience with maintaining Kubernetes and Linux OS Experience with Informatica IDMC Strong influencer, capable of making clear recommendations based on evidence and sound rationale that is clearly articulated. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key technical contacts within the client as well as drive relationships with other internal and external stakeholders Agile delivery experience - working on 2 week sprints Familiarity with Government Digital Service standards (GDS), project stages and public sector ways of working is desirable The ability to communicate exceptionally via videoconferencing is essential, to deliver meetings, presentations and reviews. Due to the sensitive nature of the client environment, BPSS Clearance will be required.
