Software Engineer Learn Description of the role: Luminary ROLI is looking for an experienced Software Engineer for the LUMI Music App, the software that drives our music learning platform LUMI. LUMI is changing the way that people play and learn music by offering an integrated hardware and software experience for learning how to play piano. LUMI was initially launched on Kickstarter and became the most successfully backed musical instrument on the platform while also making Time magazine's top 100 inventions for 2019. The Software Engineer will play a crucial part in helping us to grow and evolve this innovative product as we deliver against an exciting roadmap. As a Software Engineer, you will take an active role in the development of the LUMI Music App, working closely with the other developers and the key stakeholders on the product. You will be responsible for implementing and fixing app features, prototyping for planned features/R&D purposes, and maintaining services in our build processes. You will be collaborating with and supporting other developers and team members, such as designers and QA engineers, receiving support from senior developers and other team members as we are a highly collaborative team. The LUMI Music App is built using React Native, Unity, and C++, and the role will suit a Senior Software Engineer with extensive experience working with systems using both compiled and interpreted languages. Responsibilities: Work on development and release of the LUMI Music app according to our release plans Implement prototypes and proof of concepts for planned/possible features (R&D) based on our product plans Complete your objectives on time and to the highest quality standards Help to improve the quality and performance of our codebase continuously Maintain best practices employed by the team and advocate further application of best practice Evaluate new technology alternatives and vendor products Support the integration with internal APIs, infrastructure, and 3rd party services Assist with ongoing planning and help to constantly improve team processes Requirements: A proven track record of shipping high quality production apps (3+ years of experience in mobile app development) An inquisitive mind and demonstrable examples of implementing proactive solutions Strong time-management skills and the ability to work independently Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels A passion for music, technology and/or startups An eagerness to learn Experience working with agile methodologies Technical skills Must Experience building cross-platform React Native apps using TypeScript 3+ years of professional experience in TypeScript (or JavaScript) 3+ years of professional experience in Unity and C# Recommended Experience with C++, Objective-C, Swift, Kotlin, and/or Java XCode and Android Studio Mobile app CI and distribution (Testflight, App Centre, Azure etc) Bonus points: Experience of audio software development in JUCE Server-side development - Node.js and MongoDB Who we are: Luminary ROLI's mission is to enable more people to experience the transformative power of life-long music making.
