Job Title : Communications Officer (Senior) Working For : Robin Millar MP (Aberconwy) Location : Constituency/Flexible Salary : As per IPSA pay rates, pro rata according to experience Length of Contract : Permanent with a six month probation period. Job Details The successful candidate will be responsible for: Identifying audiences across the constituency, planning and overseeing content generation, publication and monitoring effectiveness across a wide range of channels, including social media. Maintaining and growing the MPs mailing list across the constituency. Develop an engaging, targeted and highly responsive video-first social media presence across all social media channels Draft copy for posters, letters, briefings, reports and website updates – as well as my monthly email newsletters to constituents and a bi-annual report Essential : Experience of designing and delivering communication campaigns, preferably in a political setting and ideally both long term as well as short-term/reactive campaigns. Experience of producing print and digital copy and content (e.g. leaflets, reports, briefings and surveys) for use in constituent and stakeholder communications including on-line graphics and video content. Experience of preparing press releases, liaising with the press and the ability to monitor press coverage and seek out new publicity opportunities with relevant periodicals and specialist print media. Demonstrable experience of impactful social media growth strategies. Ability to produce high quality written communications appropriate to the audience. Knowledge of and interest in UK politics. Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines and to adapt to rapidly evolving political situations. Ability to publicise and attend constituency surgeries/meet the MP/information events and the suchlike. Ability to self-motivate and to work within and support an experienced professional constituency team. Their own vehicle and clean driving licence. Desirable: Knowledge and understanding of the Aberconwy constituency and/or relevant issues (e.g. coastal towns, farming, an aging population, poverty). Knowledge of the Welsh language (written/spoken). Interest in Conservative Party policy and (devolved) Welsh politics. Conservative Party membership is not required. Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office.
