holiday cottage on the Isle of Cumbrae ( Millport ) January

Delightful secluded cottage, in the little town of Millport, Isle of Cumbrae.Rose Cottage is a lower cottage, attatched to other buildings, but has a pretty private garden, leading to it's own entrance. ( please note there are steps down from the road to the garden, and steps up to the front door) It was almost certainly constructed as a dwelling for an ex soldier stationed at the Garrison- the military had a strong presence in the 18th century, as they attempted to stamp out the smuggling which was rife on the West coast of Scotland. The cottage comprises of 2 rooms, - a combined kitchen living room, and a large bedroom. There is also a shower room In the bedroom is a double bed, and a day bed, ideal for a couple ,or couple and child. We welcome dogs in Rose Cottage, please ask about it's suitability for your own animal. The cottage enjoys efficient storage heaters, and WiFi, Smart TVs ( 1 in each room) and a well equipped small kitchen area- a 2 ring hob, fullsize fan assisted oven, and microwave etc. A ferry from Largs takes under ten minutes, and sails every half an hour. The Victorian town of Millport has some cafes, a Post Office, excellent fish and chip shop, a few restaurants ( some may not be open during the winter ) and plenty of pubs! It's also a haven for dog walking, nature lovers -seals can regularly be seen in the bay, as can many sea birds and even the occasional dolphin! If you enjoy cycling, the 10.5 perimeter of the island is ideal, as it's fairly flat. Keen walkers will love the many scenic paths over the island- the little town of Millport is the only 1 on the Isle, and the rest of it is dotted with walking tracks and farms.
